"Faith in the Lord is trust in the Lord. We cannot have true faith in the Lord without also having complete trust in the Lord’s will and in the Lord’s timing. As a result, no matter how strong our faith is, it cannot produce a result contrary to the will of Him in whom we have faith. Remember that when your prayers do not seem to be answered in the way or at the time you desire. The exercise of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is always subject to the order of heaven, to the goodness and will and wisdom and timing of the Lord. When we have that kind of faith and trust in the Lord, we have true security and serenity in our lives (Dallin H. Oaks, “The Atonement and Faith,” Ensign, Apr 2010, 30–34)."
I was reading this month's Ensign the other day and I was really struck by this quote from Elder Oaks. For me it was one of those things that I already knew but had to be reminded of. One of my struggles the last couple of years has been me doubting my faith. I kept thinking if I had enough faith my depression would go away and I would have a baby. When I read this I realized it wasn't about my faith being weak or strong it is about Heavenly Father knowing what is best for us and doing all He can to help us return to Him. I love it when I am able to have little moments like this where life makes sense and all the world is good.
I have to remind myself of that all the time! Thanks for sharing the uplifting quote.
