I can't believe it is almost the end of June! Life in Iowa has been pretty normal for us considering all of the craziness around us. The flooding in Des Moines has gone down and we were pretty much unaffected by the water. I had to go a longer way to work a few days but over all nothing major. All of my family stayed high and dry which was a wonderful blessing. People here have long memories and remembered the flood of '93 that took months to recover from and so everyone was really prepared this time.
Other news for us is that we will be staying in Des Moines a year longer than we had originally planned. Eric needs to take a second year class this fall before he can move on to his third year so he will take one class in the fall and then work along with studying to be ready for his boards next summer. While we didn't see this change coming we are grateful for the chance it is giving us to grow and to learn and also to put down roots as a couple before spending a year bouncing around the country.
Even with working part time life is busy busy. I was called at the beginning of May to be the Enrichment counselor in Relief Society and so that has been a big adjustment. Even on the days where I don't get any time to focus on the calling there are always thoughts buzzing around me head. For those of you who have seen "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" the room with all the keys flying around is what my head feels like with too many thoughts going everywhere. But they are good things and so the stress level is less and it is easier to be cheerful and happy. Eric is still waiting for his calling and home teaching route but has been so supportive of me with all of my running to and fro. So we just do as the hymn says and carry on.
