A four hour commute

Even though Eric's residency is in Baltimore, he does have to travel to D.C. for some of the time. Because of traffic and sharing the car Eric takes the train down every day. Right now we both get up at 4:20 and get ready to leave the house. I drive Eric to the metro station where he rides the subway into the Downtown Baltimore. From there he walks a few blocks to catch the train down to D.C. Once he is in D.C. he runs or walks the last 2.6 miles to the hospital. It is hard to have him gone for so many hours each day. Most days he gets home and we head to bed with in an hour. I am grateful that his hours aren't this bad for his entire residency. When Eric calls at about 4 telling me he is done with work for the day I have to stop myself from getting excited thinking he will be home soon. The good news is Eric is getting lots of reading done on the train each day.
