Washington DC

On July 1st Eric and I headed down to Washington DC to see some of the sights. We toured the Capital Building first thing and it was a mad house. Partly because of the holiday and partly because Senator Byrd was laying in State in the Senate chamber.

After that we decided to just head down The Mall and stop and see what struck us. Luckily it wasn't very hot and so we were able to enjoy being outside.
There was a little outside art gallery that we walked around. This tree was the only piece that I thought was beautiful or made any sense. After that we headed down to the Washington Monument.

I didn't realize that the Jefferson Memorial was so far away on the other side of a lake but we made the trek out there to see it.

We had a few minutes to swing by the Lincoln Memorial before we had to be at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to see how money is made.

We did our tour and then saw the White House before heading home.
